GUARANTEE – As soon as this bat leaves the workshop, it will be subject to the wear and tear of cricket games and practice. Willow is by its very nature, a softwood that, when pressed, provides the rebound qualities required to strike the ball effectively. Wood is a natural product, which can only take so much stress and strain. The life span of a bat should be measured by how much ball impact it sustains, not the length of time you own it, the customer who uses a bat seven days a week should expect it to break seven times quicker than that of the customer who uses it once. For more information on prolonging the life of your bat, please visit the Bat Care pages of this website.
RETURNS AND WARRANTY – Please see the warranty section of our website.
BAT WEIGHT – The weight of your new Phantom Cricket bat is based on one grip and toe guard being fitted before any stickers or branding are added. Please be aware that any further equipment additions to the bat (e.g. additional grips and anti-scuff sheet) will add to the quoted weight. It should also be noted that the bat’s weight will fluctuate with atmospheric conditions due to the hygroscopic nature of wood. For the majority of players, the ‘pick-up’ of a bat is considered to be of greater significance than its absolute weight. However, if weight is of paramount importance to you, then please check and ensure that you are happy with your new bat prior to use.
MCC LAW ON CRICKET BAT SIZE – New MCC laws on cricket bat sizes came into force for the professional game in October 2017. This means that the maximum dimensions of a cricket bat must not exceed 108mm in width, 67mm in depth (spine height) with 40mm edges.
The move comes after consultations with bat manufacturers, the Federation of International Cricketers’ Associations, International Cricket Council, MCC World Cricket committee, umpires’ associations and other global governing bodies on the balance between bat and ball.
The laws were only applicable to the professional game with a moratorium period for the amateur game. This period means that amateur players can still use their existing oversized bats which may be in breach of the Law. It is expected to be several years before the same law is imposed on club cricket.
If you have any doubts about whether this a requirement for the league you play in, please check with your league before purchasing a cricket bat. The responsibility for checking and purchasing a bat that is within regulation remains with the player (i.e. you).
